How the move runs

The Sydney CBD commercial pattern.

Sydney CBD office moves are two-booking jobs. Your current building's loading dock and service lift, and the destination building's dock and lift. The windows don't always line up — a 4-hour Friday evening block at one end paired with a Saturday morning block at the other is common. The hard work happens 2–3 weeks before the truck moves: matching the windows, securing both bonds, sending certificates of currency to both building managers.

Once the windows are locked, the physical move is almost boring. Friday 6pm pack-down (partition walls, workstation cabling, personal items into named crates), Saturday transit in the window, Sunday reassembly and cable tidy. Monday morning the team walks in — desks set up, monitors positioned, crates empty.

CBD core streets — George, Pitt, Elizabeth, Castlereagh, York — have weekday clearway and loading restrictions that rule out kerbside parking for a removal truck during business hours. Every CBD move we do enters the building via its dedicated loading dock or service laneway. We drive to the dock address (different from the street address), not to the front door.

For multi-floor or whole-building relocations we run the move across two weekends or split the floors across Saturday and Sunday. Tell us the headcount by floor; we size the crews around the lift windows, not around the square metres.

Precincts we know

Sydney CBD addresses where we've run commercial relocations.

Every precinct has its own loading-dock quirks and weekend access patterns. Tell us the building — we've usually been through it before, or we know exactly who to call at building management.

Barangaroo International Towers

Newer premium towers, strict certificate-of-currency workflow, dock via Hickson Road.

Chifley Tower & MLC Centre

Legacy CBD office stock, service lifts modernised, weekend-only dock windows common.

Darling Park & Sussex Street

Darling Harbour edge; dock access off Sussex or via the ring road behind.

Circular Quay towers

Aurora Place, Governor Phillip, Quay Quarter — premium dock bookings, weekend-preferred.

Haymarket residential towers

Residential move profile inside the CBD postcode — service lifts, concierge bookings.

Wynyard & York Street

Older-stock office buildings, some with tight service-lift dimensions — measure before the day.

Not listed? We cover all of Sydney CBD postcode 2000 — Circular Quay, Wynyard, Town Hall, Darling Harbour, Haymarket, Walsh Bay edge. Same crews, same insurance, same weekend-window workflow.

A real recent Sydney CBD move

47 staff, 3 floors, one weekend.

A professional-services firm relocating across 3 floors of a Circular Quay tower. 47 staff total, 38 workstations, 6 meeting rooms, a reception fit-out, and a server room. Target: Monday 9am, every desk working, phones ringing, reception branded.

Friday 6pm pack-down began once the last person left the office. 4 movers plus a packer team — 32 labelled crates per floor, colour-coded by destination. Saturday was transit and positioning across both buildings' dock windows (origin 7am–12pm, destination 10am–4pm — we needed a buffer truck to bridge the gap). Sunday was reassembly, cable tidy, signage and reception install.

Monday 9am the team walked in. Every item was exactly where it needed to be. That's Michael T.'s review at the top of the page — and it's the standard we try to meet on every Sydney CBD commercial job.

Sydney CBD commercial FAQ

What Sydney CBD operations managers ask before booking.

How much does an office removal cost in Sydney CBD?

Small-office (4–8 desks) CBD relocations start around $850–$1,600 + GST with a 3-mover crew at $210/hr + GST. Mid-size offices (20–40 desks, one floor) typically run $4,200–$7,800 + GST across a weekend with a 4-mover crew at $300/hr + GST. Full-floor and multi-floor relocations are quoted with a capped not-to-exceed number — tell us the target Monday and we work backwards.

Can a truck park kerbside on George, Pitt or Elizabeth Street?

Not during business hours. Weekday clearway and loading restrictions on the CBD core streets rule out kerbside sitting. Every CBD office move uses the building's loading dock or dedicated service laneway — the concierge or building manager will give you the dock address when the booking is confirmed. We drive to the dock, not the street address.

Which CBD buildings have you moved in and out of?

Regularly: Chifley Tower, MLC Centre, Governor Phillip Tower, Darling Park, Barangaroo International Towers, Aurora Place, the Quay Quarter Tower precinct, Haymarket residential towers, and the full Darling Harbour edge. Every building has its own dock height, service-lift dimensions and strata certificate-of-currency requirements. Send us the address — odds are we've been through it.

Can you do a weekend office move so our team walks in Monday to a finished office?

Yes — it is the default schedule for CBD office moves. Friday 6pm pack-down, Saturday transit and positioning, Sunday reassembly and cable tidy. Monday morning the business opens normally. After-hours rates are named on the quote, not added to the invoice.

How far ahead should we book a Sydney CBD office move?

3 weeks is comfortable for a 20–40 desk office. Tighter is possible but the limiting factor is the loading-dock booking at both ends — most CBD buildings only release one weekend dock window per month, and peak EOFY and start-of-year months book out further. Call us the moment you have a target Monday; we will hold the crew and truck while dock confirmations come back.

Do you need a certificate of currency for the building?

Every CBD building requires one before the dock and service lift are released — showing public liability and goods-in-transit cover. We send it directly to the building manager at both buildings as soon as the booking is confirmed. No extra cost, no chasing.

Do you move CBD offices to North Sydney, Parramatta or Chatswood?

Yes — these are our highest-volume commercial lanes. CBD → North Sydney runs via the bridge and tunnel depending on time; CBD → Parramatta is an M4 or Parramatta Road run timed around peak; CBD → Chatswood is bridge then Pacific Highway. All weekend-scheduled, single crew across both addresses. See also our dedicated [North Sydney office removals page](/services/commercial/north-sydney).

What about IT, server racks and artwork?

Monitors, docking stations and peripherals: we pack, label and reinstall. Live server racks and comms gear: your IT team powers down, we transport, they power up — we do not touch cabling we did not terminate. Framed artwork, glass-front cabinets and reception installations: crated separately, flagged on the quote, handled on Sunday of the weekend window when the building is quiet.
