Single-item or whole-home furniture moves from $150/hr + GST for two movers and a truck, three-hour minimum — so a typical single-item move runs about $$450 + GST plus a distance-based call-out fee. Blankets and straps on every piece, disassembly and reassembly included on standard beds and tables. Specialty items — pianos, pool tables, safes — quoted separately.
How we protect a piece

The difference between a scratched dresser and one that arrives perfect isn’t luck — it’s the wrap, the route and two people who’ve done it a thousand times. Here’s exactly what happens to every piece.

We assess and measure
Before anything is lifted, we check the piece against the doorways, hallways and staircase at both ends. Tight fit? We work out the route — or dismantle — before it becomes a problem on the day.

We blanket-wrap
Every timber, leather and upholstered surface gets a moving blanket. Edges and corners — the bits that catch door frames — get extra padding.

We shrink-wrap and strap
Blankets are held in place with shrink-wrap so nothing slides, drawers and doors are secured shut, and cushions stay with their frame.

We carry protected
Dollies, trolleys and a stair-climber for the heavy pieces, shoulder straps for the long carries. Two movers on anything that touches a staircase — never a solo lift.

We load with a plan
Heavy and flat on the bottom, fragile and light on top, everything strapped to the truck rail so it arrives the way it left — not shifted into itself over the drive.

We reassemble and place
Standard beds, tables and shelving go back together at the new address, and the heavy pieces land where you actually want them — not dropped inside the door.

Two-seaters to big modular systems. We split modulars into sections, wrap each, and rebuild at the other end.
Beds & mattresses
Frames dismantled and reassembled, mattresses in protective covers so they don’t pick up dirt on the carry.
Timber & dining tables
Legs off where it helps the fit, tops blanket-wrapped and edge-padded. Antique and solid-timber pieces handled with extra care.
Whitegoods
Fridges, washers and dryers trolleyed and strapped. We keep fridges upright and flag the settling time before you switch it back on.
Glass, mirrors & artwork
Mirror cartons and cushioned wrapping for glass tops, framed pieces and TVs. Custom crating for high-value art on request.
Flat-pack & IKEA reassembly
Some flat-pack survives a move assembled; some has to come apart. We tell you honestly which is which, and rebuild at the other end.

Single-item & marketplace pickups
Bought a couch online? We’ll go and get it.
Marketplace and Gumtree pickups are one of the most common jobs we run. You buy the piece, send us the pickup and drop-off addresses and a photo, and two movers collect it, wrap it and set it down where you want it — usually in one short booking.
It’s the same for delivering a new purchase from a warehouse or showroom that doesn’t deliver, or shifting one heavy piece between rooms or floors. No job’s too small for a proper two-person lift.
What we need from you
- The pickup and drop-off addresses — the distance sets the call-out fee.
- A photo of the piece, so we bring the right gear and crew.
- Access notes both ends — stairs, lift, parking, any tight doorways.
Specialty items
For the things that need more than a truck and a blanket.
Pianos, pool tables, safes, gym equipment, artwork and stone tops are quoted separately because the crew and gear are different. Tell us what you have — we’ll price it, or point you at a specialist if it’s not our job.
Upright pianos
Custom straps, three or more movers, a stair-climber when stairs are involved. Quoted separately.
Grand pianos
Full disassembly — legs, lyre and lid. Quoted after an on-site or video walk-through.
Pool & billiard tables
Slate separated for transport and re-levelled at the new address. Specialist work.
Artwork & antiques
Custom crating on request, cushioned transport, insured at declared value.
Safes & gym equipment
Weight and access set the crew size. Site check first for anything over 150kg.
Marble & stone tops
Carried on edge, never flat, and crated where the span needs it. Tell us the dimensions.
What it costs
Furniture moves, priced honestly.
Everything runs on the hourly crew rate with a 3-hour minimum, plus a call-out fee set by the distance between pickup and drop-off. Both are on your quote before you book. These are honest ranges — access, stairs and volume set where you land.

Every room’s furniture in one trip. A bigger crew and truck cost more per hour but finish in fewer hours, so a full house often lands cheaper than a two-mover job dragging over two trips.

Questions about furniture, before we pick it up.
Can you move just one item, like a sofa or a fridge?
Yes. Single-item moves run at the same hourly rate — from $150/hr + GST for two movers and a truck — with a 3-hour minimum. Most single-item moves finish inside the 3 hours, so the minimum (3 × $150 = $450 + GST) is usually the total. A separate call-out fee applies on top, based on the distance between pickup and drop-off, and it’s confirmed on your quote before you book.
Can you pick up furniture I bought on Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree?
Yes — second-hand and marketplace pickups are one of the most common single-item jobs we do. Send us the pickup address, the drop-off address and a photo of the piece, and we’ll quote the crew time and call-out. We can usually collect and deliver in the one short booking.
Do you wrap furniture, or is that extra?
Blanket-wrapping is included on every job. Every timber, leather or upholstered piece is wrapped before it leaves the door and stays wrapped until it’s in its new spot. There’s no separate “protection package” to buy.
What about heavy or awkward items — pianos, safes, pool tables?
Specialty items are quoted separately because they need specific gear and crew size. Call or submit the quote form with a photo and the weight if you have it, and we’ll price it honestly — or tell you if it’s better handled by a piano or safe specialist.
Can you move furniture up or down tight staircases?
Most of the time, yes. We measure the piece and the staircase before the job — the photos you send on the quote form are usually enough. If it won’t fit via the stairs, we raise it before booking so you’re not stuck on the day, and we work out whether it dismantles or needs a different route.
Do you take furniture apart and put it back together?
Standard beds, dining tables and flat-pack shelving, yes — disassembly and reassembly are included in the hourly. Built-in or heavily modified pieces we’ll assess first; some flat-pack doesn’t survive a second build and we’ll tell you that upfront.
Will my floors get scratched?
Not by us. We lay runners and hard-floor guards at both ends before we bring anything in, and the crew wear shoe covers on hard floors. Floor protection is part of the job, not an add-on.
Are my pieces insured while you move them?
Yes. Public liability and goods-in-transit insurance apply to every job, and Hartmann Removals carries $20 million public liability cover. For high-value antiques or art, tell us the declared value on the quote so it’s covered properly.
