We check who’s free today
We look at which crew is finishing a morning job early, which truck is the right size for your move, and whether the distance fits into the day. You get an honest yes, a “maybe this afternoon”, or a “tomorrow morning is safer”.

We confirm and send details
Once a crew is locked in, we SMS you the crew’s ETA and the truck rego so you know exactly who’s turning up and when. No waiting around a four-hour window.

When you call
Before 10am is the sweet spot. A crew finishing a small morning job can often roll straight onto an afternoon move. Late-morning and lunchtime calls still get a look, but the odds drop as the day fills.
The size of the move
Studios and 1-beds are almost always doable same-day. 2-beds are usually fine with an early call. A full 3-bed-plus house needs a free crew and a free big truck lining up at once, so it’s the least likely to slot in today.
The truck we need
A few items or a small flat fits the standard truck that’s often free. A full house needs the big truck, and if it’s already out on a booked job, same-day may not be possible.
Where you are
A move that keeps the crew in one part of Sydney is easier to add than one that sends the truck across the city and back. Distance affects both the odds and the call-out fee.

Can you really come today?
Often yes. Call before 10am for the best chance of a same-day slot. We usually have at least one crew either finishing a morning job or starting late enough that we can slot a small move into the day. The honest answer depends on the size of your move and what’s already booked — we’ll tell you straight on the phone.
Do you charge more for same-day?
No surcharge. Same-day moves are billed at the standard hourly — from $150/hr + GST for two movers — with the usual 3-hour minimum. A separate call-out fee applies on top, based on the distance between your pickup and drop-off, and it’s confirmed before you commit.
What size moves can you do same-day?
Studio and 1-bedroom moves are almost always doable. 2-bedroom is usually fine if you call early. 3+ bedroom same-day needs a free crew and a free big truck to line up at once, so advance booking is safer for a full house.
Why is phone better than the online form for same-day?
Because we can check live crew and truck availability while you’re on the line. The web form is great for a booked-ahead quote, but for today it just adds a delay — by the time we call back, the slot may be gone. For same-day, call directly.
How late in the day can you start a move?
It depends on the size and the light. A small afternoon move is fine; a full house started late risks running past dark. We’ll be honest on the phone about whether today still works or whether a first-thing-tomorrow start is the safer call. Office hours are mon–fri 8am–5pm and sat 9am–4pm.
What if I need a crew on a Sunday or after hours?
Our standard office hours are Monday to Saturday, closed Sundays. Crews can still run on a Sunday, a public holiday, or after hours by arrangement — those are quoted separately. Call and we’ll tell you honestly whether a crew is free.
How do I confirm a same-day booking?

Are same-day moves still insured?
Yes. A same-day booking is a normal move done at short notice — public liability and goods-in-transit insurance apply exactly the same, and Hartmann Removals carries $20 million public liability cover.
