Ranges are estimates based on typical Sydney moves. Your quote will show the hourly rate and an estimated hours range specific to your home and access.
What drives the final number
Five factors that move the hours.
- Volume of items
- How much is actually going on the truck.
- Distance
- Sydney metro is included; longer legs factored in.
- Access conditions
- Stairs, lifts, long carries, and parking both ends.
- Time of move
- Weekday vs weekend; early mornings before peak traffic.
- Special items
- Pianos, pool tables, artwork, antiques quoted separately.
How to get the best rate
Five ways to spend less on the same move.
- Book midweek where possible.
- Declutter before the move — less volume means fewer hours.
- Be fully packed and ready when the team arrives.
- Arrange parking at both ends in advance.
- Book 2–3 weeks ahead. In the October–February peak, aim for 3–4 weeks.

Pricing FAQ
The questions every Sydney mover asks about price.
How much do removalists cost in Sydney?
Sydney removalists typically charge by the hour. Hartmann Removals starts at $150/hr + GST for two movers and a truck, with larger crews from $210, $240, and $300/hr + GST. Minimum charge is 3 hours, call-out included.
What does each Hartmann Removals crew size cover?
Two movers and a truck ($150/hr + GST) suits studios and 1-bed apartments. Three movers and a truck ($210/hr + GST) handles most 2–3 bedroom homes. Three movers with a bigger truck ($240/hr + GST) is for fuller 3–4 bed loads that would otherwise need a second trip. Four movers and a big truck ($300/hr + GST) is for 4+ bedroom homes and large jobs.
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes — 3 hours minimum. If your move takes less than 3 hours you are still billed for 3 hours. Most studio and one-bedroom moves finish inside 3 hours, so the minimum is usually the total.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
No separate call-out fee. The travel to your address is included in the first hour. You’re billed from the time we arrive to the time the last item is unloaded.
Do you charge extra for stairs or difficult access?
No surcharge. Access conditions affect how long the move takes, which affects the final cost on an hourly rate, so we factor stairs, long carries and parking into the estimated hours on the quote.
Are weekend and public holiday rates higher?
They may be slightly higher depending on crew availability. Any weekend or public holiday uplift is quoted upfront — no surprise surcharge on the invoice.
What payment methods do you accept?
Bank transfer, credit or debit card on move day, or online before the move. No cash-only rules, no "card surcharge."
Can I get a fixed-price quote instead of hourly?
For most moves, hourly is fairer than a fixed price — if the move runs shorter, you pay less. For commercial jobs or unusually complex moves we can work to a capped not-to-exceed number; ask when you call.
How is your starting rate different from competitors’ advertised rates?
Our rates start from $150/hr + GST and are an actual hourly — not a half-hourly rounded up — and they include the call-out, fuel, tolls, blankets, trolleys and insurance. Weekend, public-holiday and after-hours work may be quoted slightly higher, always shown on the quote before you book. What you see is what you pay.
