What Bondi actually involves.
Bondi is mostly 1950s–70s walk-up apartment blocks — the red-brick three- and four-storey buildings stacked along Glenayr Avenue, Warners Avenue and the side streets off Campbell Parade. Very few have lifts. That one detail — whether your place is a ground floor or a third-floor walk-up — changes the hours on the clock more than anything else, which is why we ask about it on the quote form.
Parking is the second thing that shifts the price in Bondi. Most of the residential side streets are Waverley Council permit zones, and the main strips (Campbell Parade, Hall Street, Bondi Road) are metered with 2P or 4P limits. Waverley Council issues moving-vehicle permits for reserved parking bays — they cost a small fee and want about 10 business days notice to allocate the space. For a 1-bed move we can usually work around without one; for a full 2 or 3 bedroom load-out from a narrow street, the permit saves hours of double-parking and carrying.
Summer Sunday beach traffic is a real factor between November and March. A midday load-out on Campbell Parade in January means the truck may sit 20 minutes in traffic each direction. We recommend early weekday mornings for Bondi moves wherever the schedule allows, or a Saturday before 10am. The first hour is always quickest.

Third-floor walk-up is not the same job as ground floor. Lift access — if the block has one — also affects timing because beach-side lifts are often small and can only take a loaded dolly at a time.

Avoid summer Sunday middays where you can
Beach traffic easily adds an hour or more to a move from November through March. Weekday mornings or Saturdays before 10am are the kindest slots on the clock.

Bondi walk-up stairwells are narrow. Large L-couches and pedestal queen-beds sometimes need to come apart or go up a balcony — we bring straps and ratchets, but we like to know in advance.

A classic Bondi job: a 2-bedroom walk-up off Glenayr Avenue, third floor, no lift. The tenants called Monday, booked us for a Thursday start at 7:30am because Waverley metered parking only opens up once the morning beach run settles.
Two movers and a truck, five hours on the clock. The lift-less third-floor run added about an hour versus a ground-floor equivalent — expected. One wardrobe disassembly at the Bondi end, reassembled at the Waterloo end. Final bill landed at five hours × $150 = $750 + GST, exactly in the estimated-hours range we'd quoted.
Pattern: on side streets off Campbell Parade, two movers is almost always the right call for 1-bed and 2-bed walk-ups. Three movers makes sense once you cross three bedrooms or add a genuinely heavy piece (piano, marble dining table). The parking window, not the furniture, is usually what controls the day.

Can you park a truck on Campbell Parade?
Campbell Parade has 2P/4P metered parking and clearway restrictions during beach peak times. We plan around it — usually we’ll pull up briefly to unload trolleys, then park the truck a block back on Hall Street or Curlewis Street. For full load-outs we aim for early morning slots before parking fills.
